Welcome from the Director

I would like to extend a warm welcome to you from the Justin Lee Wiesner Preschool and Goldie Feldman Academy at Temple Beth Sholom Schools. We have created this website to give you a sense of TBS Schools – to provide a way for you to make an online visit to our school and to see the programs and people that make us a vibrant and dynamic school community.

Learning by doing has guided the efforts of the TBS Schools since we first opened our doors in 1974. Our schools embrace the project-based learning educational model. From a baby’s first words to learning about Shakespeare and beyond, students at TBS Schools are challenged to think for themselves, develop a passion for discovery, become socially aware, and cultivate a “can-do” attitude that questions why, why not, and how. Our faculty of innovative teachers places a great emphasis on teaching for meaning and understanding, creating a hands-on environment in which students excel and become lifelong learners.

Students thrive academically due to our integrated curriculum with low student-faculty ratios, small classes, scholastic rigor and real world experience. From preschool constructive play for school readiness to above-grade level academics in Kindergarten through 8th grade, our students consistently outperform their peers and are accepted into the honors high schools of their choice. We are a school with a soul where students are guided through Jewish traditions and universal values with respect for all people and their diverse backgrounds.

Education is the most precious legacy that we can give our children. The educational experience for children must be a human and humane one. At TBS Schools, that experience has at its core a deep and profound respect for each and every child, and the belief that all children are strong, competent, intellectually-curious beings, capable of leading us as human explorers.
